More Voices Join the Chorus

It never ceases to make my day when I learn of a couple new blogs on the block. Check 'em out, add them to your Bloglines, keep going back, you'll be glad you did.

The Audacity of Hoek
: Another friend in the fight for Congress!
Exposing the hypocrisy, lies and rubberstamp legislative actions of Michigan's 2nd Congressional District Representative Pete Hoekstra
Hot damn, yet another fantastic Congressional District Watch Blog joining the fight! This blog's already on fire, make sure you stop by.

My Left Pinkie: This blog was a long time coming. From the spot o' blue amongst all that red on Michigan's west side, MLP was created by a good friend, Perfect Stormer, who gives this girl much too much credit -
LiberalLucy. If you're from Michigan, stop right there. You know who Lucy is--she needs no introduction. If you're not from Michigan...well, LiberalLucy is affectionately known as the Cruise Director of the Michigan lefty blogosphere, and for good reason. Watching that woman work her mojo is like lighting off fireworks indoors (yes, I stole this phrase from the New York Times review of the original Broadway production of Rent, but it fits Lucy too).
So glad you finally got your own fireworks going off there in Muskegon County!

The SuperSpade:
Black Thought at the Highest Level, the communications arm of Powerful Holdings, is a forum that presents critical, intellectual perspectives on the current issues. The goal of this space is to provide actionable commentary on social, political, and personal issues affecting the daily lives of individuals. We tie issues to people’s everyday decisions, so that they can then use these decision points and opportunities to create change. Since November 9, 2005, The SuperSpade has been energizing and mobilizing young people across the country, encouraging intellectual discourse on current events, as well as meaningful actions to help the community.
Need I say anymore? Brandon and I got to know each other at YearlyKos, and I know we can expect awesome things from him and the rest of the folks at SuperSpade in the near future.

You can find these and the rest of the Michigan lefty blogs on the right side of this page.

Speaking of Michigan's lefty blogs, have you heard all about them?

Blog o' the Day - Pohlitics

It's been a while, so I thought it was only fitting to bring back the Blog o' the Day feature back with my morning favorite - Pohlitics.

We all have morning habits. Mine happens to include reading the daily "Outside it's America" post from Zack. It's literally the Morning Roundup of all Michigan liberal Blogs.

Zack reads all the latest posts, and then summarizes and recommends his favorites each morning. I never cease to get excited when a post from LLP makes it on there. Here's the first time we made it big on Pohlitics, and I'll never forget how excited I was.

Don't be fooled into thinking that Pohlitics is just a morning round-up. If you are a missing a little humor in your life, check out one of his regular funnies, as they are sure bring a chuckle or two.

Always setting the bar high, Zack continues to expand his website, and since the creation of Mr. Rogers' Watch, he's helping everyone in the 8th Congressional District keep tabs on wily Mike Rogers with his aptly-named Rogers Probe.

Take it from this liberal, Pohlitics is not only about to be your favorite morning destination, but it's one-stop-shopping for everything progressive happening on the Michigan blogosphere. Do yourself a favor and stop by today!

Blog o' the Day - ChristineBarry

I'm not your typical blogger.
I never really much read blogs because my idea of a blog was just one more forum for people in their angst to rant and rave. I'm a busy girl, and personally, I've got a lot of better things to do than listen to other people rant. If I'm going to take time out of my day to read something, than I need to know that I'm going to walk away from it with something new that I've learned.
Since then I still don't read too many blogs regularly, but there are a few that I've found that are truly out to educate others (as is the point of LLP). Here's yet another stand-out in the massive sea of blogs.

Christine touts her blog as "The only blog focusing on the people & politics of Shiawassee County, Michigan", but it's so much more than that.

Christine manages to bring things to light in a witty and plain-spoken kind of way. I really think CB is one of those blogs that the non-politico could sit down and read and just get it. Something that I think Liberals/Progressives and the Democratic Party all need to do much better than the status quo.
Christine's incorporating all sorts of multi-media and new technologies into her blog. Don't let the vanilla look of the blog fool you. Just recently she managed to inspire and educate me by featuring a YouTube video of the singer Pink with a live performance of "Dear Mr. President". It's an incredible song that you need to experience yourself, but I think after a view, you'll be hooked. (It's currently on its 6th play today on my computer). What was even better, was the post was titled "Dear Mr. DeVos" and is aptly named for our fight here in Michigan.
Besides all that, Christine is a bit of a celebrity in the blogosphere. She's a regular contributor at the Detroit News Political Blog. She even went toe-to-toe with columnist George Bullard in all of his conservative glory over one of the Granholm/DeVos debates, and came out with the guns blazing. Read all of her DetNews posts here, and you'll see why she's such an inspiration.
So if you're looking for another way to educate yourself and add a little something to your day, be sure to stop on by christinebarry.com

Blog o' the Day - Pt. 2

In the constant battle between good and evil on the Michigan blogosphere, there's one cool cat we can always count on to keep it real...WizardKitten.

WK is a lean and mean feline, and she's got a razor-sharp wit ready to do battle with even the richest Republican. Make no mistake, cross WK and you're asking for it. An established blogger, she's long been a hero-of-sorts to this new kid on the block. Her stuff is always solid and fact-driven, none of the rhetorical spin you might be used to from the Righties.

Aptly titled For My Amusement Only, the Kitten isn't out to make friends, just to educate, inform, and just like the rest of us lefties, keep Michigan real. Stop on by, say hello, you might just find yourself with one more Must-Read stop on the Information Highway.
